Course Overview: This course trains students to assist licensed pharmacists with preparing medications, interacting with customers, and managing prescription records, ensuring that medications are dispensed safely and efficiently.

Demand & Relevance: The demand for pharmacy technicians is increasing as pharmacies expand their role in providing patient care, such as managing chronic diseases, immunizations, and wellness screenings.

Job Opportunities: Graduates can find employment in retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, long-term care facilities, and mail-order pharmacies.

 

Course Synopsis

This course provides the student with the skills that are important in assisting the pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications. Students will be trained in how to interpret prescription hardcopies, pharmacy calculations, processing a prescription, pharmacy laws, compounding and packaging of medications. This course includes the HIPAA privacy act, medication ordering process, and inventories. Upon successful completion of this course, Pee Dee Medical Training Center of LC will provide the student with a certificate of completion. Also, students who complete the course and pay the LLR fee can apply to the state for registration. This is not a State or National Pharmacy Technician certification. The student may accept lesser pay for a job, may not obtain all Pharmacy Technician positions as a registered Pharmacy Technician.

Course Hours:

100 lecture/lab hours over 12 weeks
40 hours clinical at one of our contracted pharmacies.

Course Schedule:

2 days a week
9am-1pm or 6pm-10pm

Prerequisite:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Note:

We will provide graduates with information on how to get on the state Pharmacy Technician Registry.
